Chapter 3

Craig was chilled to the bone by the time he got back from walking to get his lemon. He bought a half dozen Leinie's and the most recent Circus magazine too. He cracked open a Leinenkugel and then pounded the chicken breasts thin. Before starting to cook he threw a log in the fireplace and set it ablaze. He grabbed a bottle of wine off the shelf, opened it to use in the recipe, pulled out the flour, salt, pepper, and capers. He fried up the chicken in a pan after he seasoned it and breaded it and then he added some mushrooms. He cooked them a while and poured some white wine and lemon juice over the mushrooms and cooked them a while. He strolled over to the cd player and put on Mandie's Linkin Park CD to listen to while he cooked. He took a swig off the beer and continued on. He added the chicken to the pan and let it cook slow while he prepared some rice and broccoli. By the time the rice was done and the chicken was cooked he was on his third beer and feeling fine. He switched CDs when the other one was finished and was listening to 3 Doors Down when Mandie came home, tired, wet, and cold. Craig had just come out of the bathroom when he spotted Mandie taking off her soaked coat and hanging it up. She looked drenched. He poured her a glass of white wine and then approached her. He set the glass of wine down on the counter and then put his arms around her. She leaned against him and sighed.

"It's freezing out there." She said, shivering. He rubbed his hands over her cold skin and kissed her.

"It's warm in here, I'm warm ... for you." He said and pulled her over to the fireplace and pushed her down gently on the couch. He knelt down and took off her shoes and rubbed her feet. She looked at him and shook her head. Some days she could smack him for not having a real job and helping out with the bills and then other days ....

"I smell something really good, Craig. What did you make?" She asked pulling a blanket off the back of the couch and tossing on herself. Craig crawled up onto the couch and, pushing Mandie back down, kissed her and ruffled her hair.

"You just stay there and get warmed up, I'll finish cooking and then you can come eat." She reached up under his shirt and planted her cold hands right on his belly. He jumped up off the couch with a yelp. "Holy shit!" He said pulling down his shirt and rubbing the cold spot she left on him with her hands. "Keep them ice cubes to yourself!" He went over to the glass of wine, grabbed it and brought it to her. "Warm yourself by the fire and with this wine. I'll be done shortly." He went back out to the kitchen and finished putting his dinner together. He set the table for two, lit a couple candles, turned off most of the lights in the apartment and then pulled his girl up to the table. He pulled one of his sweaters out of the closet and draped it around her shoulders before sitting down himself. She looked at him from across the little table they shared in their tiny dining room, her eyes sparkled and she was wet but completely beautiful to Craig. He smiled at her. She looked down at what he had served her and smiled back at him. She felt tears well behind her eyes as she looked at him. So long ago she would have died for one moment alone with him and here she was ... Sitting across from him, about to eat the dinner he prepared for her, carrying his child. The tears stung her eyes and rolled down her cheeks. She looked away so he wouldn't notice but it was too late. He saw them glistening on her cheeks from the other side of the table. He threw down his fork and knife and pulled her into his arms.

"What is it, Mandie?? What?" He asked cradling her. She sniffled and wiped the tears on his shirt sleeve.

"It isn't anything Craig. I'm just so happy being here with you. I, I love you." She said tearfully. He held her close and kissed her head. It seemed weird for her to be sitting there crying if nothing was wrong.
"Are you sure? Is something bothering you?" He asked, sitting her down and kneeling beside her chair. She looked down at him and smoothed down his hair and touched his face gently. He was just gorgeous. She had always thought so, and still did.

"I am sure Craig. I just got all emotional from the effort you put into this dinner and I can't tell you how much it means to me." He took her hand, kissed it and got up. He grabbed himself another beer before sitting back down across from her. He watched her as she began to eat the chicken. He then, himself, began to eat. It was very good. Mandie took a few bites before telling him how much she loved it. He was relieved. He was never sure if the strange things he cooked were to her liking. They always seemed to be but he worried just the same. After they ate, they cleaned up the kitchen together. Craig threw another couple logs on the fire and then, after Mandie changed into sweats and a t-shirt, sat her down on a blanket he had spread out on the floor in front of the raging fire. He sat back against the couch and pulled her to him between his legs to massage her shoulders and neck. After a few minutes she leaned back against him. He kissed her neck sensuously, licking and biting it. She moaned. Ever since that little encounter in her office this afternoon she couldn't wait to get home to him. He pulled at the collar of her shirt and bit and sucked her shoulders gently. She turned around and knelt in front of him. Leaning his head against the back of the couch she kissed his luscious mouth with ardor. She sucked his lips and bit at them. He explored her mouth with his tongue while his hands roamed underneath her shirt, felt for her breasts, found them and manipulated them. His thumbs found her nipples and rubbed them gently. She pulled back slightly since they were still very sore. He just looked at her with interest.

"Am I hurting you?" He asked. She shook her head.

"They are just a little sensitive right now." She whispered and smashed her mouth down on his once again. After kissing for some time, Craig pulled her clothes off and wrestled her to the ground. He held her arms out to the sides while he bit at her shoulders and chest and breasts. She giggled, moaned, and tried to pull her arms away. He held her there. He let her arms go while he moved his mouth down her belly to her bellybutton. He stuck his tongue into it and then licked around it. Mandie squirmed as he was doing this but he grabbed her waist and held her there. He then licked downwards .... He buried his face between her legs and flicked his tongue inside and out while she lay squirming on the floor. If there was one thing Craig knew, it was how to please his woman. And what he was doing now was not only his favorite, sexually, but he knew he could please Mandie this way and it made him extremely happy to do so. Her breathing was coming a bit heavier now and he sensed she was on the brink. He slid his finger inside her while he licked and she came in spasms not moments later. She moaned, panted, and then pulled at his clothes maniacally. He threw off his jeans and boxers and slid inside her easily. His hot, hard maleness felt so good to her and she moaned while he made love to her. Her pleasure with him made him climax quickly. When he was finished, he held her close and then apologized.

"What the hell are you sorry for Craig Scanlon?" She asked, chastising. He pressed her head to his chest.

"It was over way too soon." He whispered. "You make me feel so good though ..."

"I loved every single minute of it." She said back, quietly. "Until I met you I didn't know sex could be so damned good, every time!!"

"Really?" He asked, proudly. She squeezed him tightly.

"Really!" She said. He held here there a while watching the fire in the fireplace, feeling the heat and reveling in the moment. Mandie slumped against him and proceeded to fall sound asleep. He was enjoying holding her there and considered getting the little burgundy box he'd hid earlier ... when he tried to move Mandie and she was heavy and limp, he knew she was asleep and decided the proposal would wait until another opportune time ....
