The sun was going down and the air was a bit cooler then it had been earlier that day. I was a mass of goose bumps in my suit. Josh jumped right in and was swimming back and forth through the pool, dodging people left and right. “Come on in.” He called as I stood on the side shivering.
“I’m c-c-cold.” I said between chattering teeth. He swam over and leaned on the side.
“It’s nice in here, I think it might be heated.” He flicked water at my legs. I backed up and grabbing my towel I put it around my shoulders.
“It’s not heated you goof, it was 85 degrees out here earlier.” I chided sitting down on the edge of the enormous, blue-green pool. I dangled my legs in the water while Josh dived underneath the surface and came up on the other side. He disappeared again and surfaced right next to me.
“You’re a big chicken, you know that?” He smoothed his wet curls back from his unshaven face and eyed me.
“No, I’m a big plucked chicken right about now.” I showed him my bumpy, pink skin.
“Let’s go.” He said gripping my ankles and pulling me towards the edge.
No! No! Josh!” I shouted kicking at him. I was slipping off the side. His grip on me tightened and luckily I gulped air right before I hit the water. I surfaced and looked around for him, he was swimming away quickly. “You bastard.” I hissed and swam after him. Catching up with him I leaped onto his back, he pulled me under. I came up sputtering. I dove under the water and made a grave attempt to pull down his shorts. He held on for dear life and being as I needed to breathe I gave up. I came up out of the water to hear him laughing.
“It’s no use, woman, you can’t beat me. I’m a swimming champion.”
“Oh, yeah?” I challenged. “We’ll just see about that.” I swam after him. I chased him around the pool for a bit all the while being careful not to splash or irritate the other swimmers. I leaned against the side of the pool to catch my breath when I saw him vanish under the water once more. Moments later I felt a tugging on my suit bottom. Josh popped up out of the water inches from me and leaned his hands on the sides of the pool beside me. I was trapped. My heart leaped into my throat and I felt a tingling sensation in my thighs. We hadn’t been this close, eye to eye since the Mansion party. He stared down at me, his huge eyes intense, his face serious. I swallowed.
“I have an idea.” He said softly moving in a little closer.
“What is it?” I asked, breathless. I shivered. I couldn’t tell if it was the chilly night air against my wet, sun burned skin or the heat coming off him that caused the sensation.
“Why don’t we go upstairs, get dressed and have a drink?” I felt my breath shorten when he leaned forward and kissed my forehead. “I have some things I want to tell you.” Josh pulled himself out of the pool and helped me out. He held a towel and wrapped it around me as I emerged. We rode the elevator up to our rooms silently. I was nervous about what he had to tell me and I interpreted his silence as something awful was about to happen. He left me at my door and I went inside. Visibly shaken I shrugged out of my wet suit, dried off, and put on a pair of khaki capris, a pale pink baby doll tee shirt and sandals. I dried my hair as best I could and left the room. I met Josh in the hall. We floated downwards in the elevator, once again silent and entered the bar. It was after 9 and there were hardly any people in there. We sat down at a table and ordered drinks. He stared at me.
“What?” I asked, conscientiously.
“You look really nice.” He said and smiled. I blushed. The waiter brought our drinks and we both sipped.
“So what was it that you wanted to tell me?” I asked, hesitant. I wasn’t too sure I really wanted to know. He took another gulp of his drink.
“Well, to start with I wanted to know what’s up with you and Zach?”
“Oh, that?” I laughed. “He’s a nice guy and all but not exactly my type.” Josh nodded and turned his glass around and around on the table.
“Yeah? He seems to think more of you.” I made a face.
“He can think anything he wants. We’re just friends.” Josh didn’t look up from his drink.
“Why? Are you dating someone else?” Did Zach put him up to this?
“Why the 20 questions, Josh? If Zach told you to interrogate me then you can go back to him and tell him I sad he can ask me this shit himself.” I made to get up from the table but Josh grabbed my hand and pulled me back down.
“No, Teddy, Zach didn’t put me up to this. I want know for my own reasons.” I looked at his face, into his eyes. He looked away nervously. I felt my heart fluttering in my chest, my mouth had suddenly gone bone dry and my hands were shaky. He spied a piano over in the corner. “Come here.” He got up and pulled me over to it. He placed his hands around my waist and hoisted me up onto the top then he sat down at the keys and began to play. I watched him as his long, slender fingers stroked the keys and began to play a familiar song.
“I have been blind, unwilling.” He sang softly. “To see the true love you’re giving.” I sighed. It was one of my favorites. “I have ignored every blessing. I’m on my knees confessing … That I feel myself surrender each time I see your face. I am staggered by your beauty, your unassuming grace. And I feel my heart is turning, falling into place. I can’t hide it now hear my confession.” All eyes were on Josh as he continued. “I have been wrong about you. Thought I was strong without you. For so long nothing could move me. For so long nothing could change meeeee … now I feel myself surrender each time I see your face. I am captured by your beauty, your unassuming grace. And I feel my heart is turning, falling into place. I can’t hide it now hear my confession.” Out of the corner of my eye I saw the room was filling up with people, but my focus was on Josh and the piano humming underneath me. “You are the air that I breathe, you’re the ground beneath my feet. When did I stop believing? ‘Cuz I feel myself surrender each time I see your face, I am staggered by your beauty, your unassuming grace and I feel my heart turning, falling into place. I can’t hide it now hear my confession.” When the song ended I slid off the piano and rushed into his arms. He held me tightly and we kissed. The crowd in front of us clapped and cheered loudly. When we broke apart Josh took a bow. I couldn’t believe how many people had crowded into that tiny little piano bar within the time he had started to sing and finished the song. It wasn’t easy getting out of there. He rushed me down the hallway and into the elevator. The second the door closed he had me in his arms, backed up against the wall, his mouth on mine, kissing, sucking.
“Oh Teddy, Oh God …” He moaned and held me close. “I can’t tell you how long I’ve waited to hold you.” I pulled his face to mine and nipped at his mouth.
“I want you.” I breathed. He pressed himself against me.
“I want you more.” I reached down and felt his hardness. It was fairly evident that he did.
We were barely inside the hotel room when he was pulling at my clothes. As I unbuttoned and unzipped my capris Josh tore off his shirt and kicked off his pants. He gasped when he finally pulled my tanned, warm, bare body to his. He walked me backwards onto the bed and crawled on top of me. He knelt over me and eyed at me with intent. I slid my arms around his neck and made to pull him down. He held fast.
“Teddy.” He began, his bottom lip wavering a little. “I just want you to know something.” I stared at that cherry red, thick bottom lip and yearned to suck on it.
“What?” I breathed.
“That this isn’t just sex to me.” I looked up into his eyes and knew in that instant he was telling the truth. There was something there, something warm and loving. “This is us. This is me and you. And Teddy, I love you.” I pulled him downward. His body melded with mine, our mouths entangled, his hardness pressing into my belly.
“I love you, Josh.” I panted in between kisses. When he could stand it no longer he pushed my knees apart with his and positioned himself over me.
“I have been waiting for this.” He murmured and slid inside me slowly. I inhaled deeply with every stroke. My body ached for more of him, I wrapped my legs around his waist pulling him deeper. His body heaved with every thrust, his eyes focused on mine, holding them there. I watched the ecstasy on his face as he drew more and more excited. Suddenly I felt a rush that started in my thighs and worked its way up into my belly. Josh groaned loudly and gushed deeply inside. “Oh God …” he panted and then collapsed on top of me heavily.
We lay together, naked, bodies entwined under the protection of the covers on the bed. Sleep would not come for either of us. Josh leaned backwards and glanced at the clock.
“Two-thirty.” He said. I giggled. He leaned down and kissed me again. “Well who needs sleep now that I have you?” I kissed his scruffy chin.
“I concur.”
“You concur?” He teased. We lay in silence once more.
“So how long have you felt like this, little Josh?” He sighed and pulled me closer to his furry chest. I stroked it lightly.
“A long time.” I was surprised.
“Really?” I asked. “How long?” He thought a moment.
“Since I was 14.” I smiled and snuggled into him. Some time passed and I felt myself drifting off to Josh stroking my arm lightly. Josh’s fingers traced their way from my arm to my breast where he made circles around my erect nipple. The tingling sensation it gave me roused me. He dipped his head and holding my breast with one hand, traced circles around it with his tongue.
“Mmmmmm …” I moaned softly. I felt a familiar stirring in my thighs. He sucked my nipple into his mouth and nipped at it gently with his teeth. When he’d had enough of that one he moved on to the other. We made love again and shortly before dawn the two of us, exhausted, floated into deep slumber.
